Chamber Launches Electricity Cost Savings Affinity Program!

The Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry is pleased to announce that it is launching a new electricity cost savings affinity program for its members. Membership in the Chamber really does make a difference!

History

South Coast Electric Power Group (“SCEPG”) was formed in 2002 by the Fall River Area and New Bedford Chambers of Commerce to give their members the opportunity to save money by negotiating “bulk rates” for energy sources from a variety of suppliers. Risk Services Group (“RSG”) serves as the administrative consultants for the group. According to statements released by RSG, the SCEPG has realized $11.37 million in savings for its members during the duration of the last 32 month contract period.

Large Business Electricity Consumer Program

Under the large user program, members sign individual contracts with energy suppliers bidding to provide power at a guaranteed rate for six months or more. The large capacity user program is tailored for 40000 KWH per month energy consumers. Two of the biggest consumers in the large capacity user group are the cities of Fall River and New Bedford. The consortium also includes 30 other commercial, industrial and institutional users.

There is currently a buy in opportunity available within the large capacity user program to Chamber members. The hedge price is for a 36 month term at $.0698 per KWH. The buy opening will remain unlocked until Dec. 1.

“New” Small Business Electricity Consumer Program

SCEPG has very exciting news that can benefit many small businesses during these very difficult economic times. It is now introducing an extension to the original program that will be tailored to small business electricity consumers. This offering was produced by RSG at the request of the Fall River Area and New Bedford Chambers of Commerce. Creation of the Program has been in the works since April, 2009.

The new program is specifically intended for electricity consumers who use less than 40000 KW per month. RSG will serve as administrator of the small business electricity program. This will allow RSG to act as an information resource to Chamber members on electricity supply and competitive choice matters. RSG and the Chambers have designed the program to help members maximize the benefits of completive electric supply based upon each member’s individual needs. There will be fixed price, variable price, long term price and short term price offerings to allow for flexibility. Consumers will also have the added ability to choose from a list of multiple pre-screened electricity suppliers.

The purpose for rolling out this new electricity cost savings program is to give Chamber members access to supply options and products that are not available to small business consumers on the general market. Above all, the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce wants to help its members save money on their electric bills! Enrollees must be a Chamber member in good standing to be eligible for participation in both the large or small business cost savings affinity programs. If your business is not a member, then now is the time to join the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry!
